Frequently Asked Questions
How do I connect my Android phone to my Mac?
Make sure both devices are connected to the same WiFi network.
Open LinkMyDroid on your Mac and LinkMyMac on your Android phone.
Pair the devices by scanning the QR code and you’re ready to go.
Why can't my devices find each other?
Check the following:
• Both devices must be on the same WiFi network
• Some routers have AP Isolation enabled, which blocks devices from communicating
• Make sure your firewall isn’t blocking local connections
• If possible, try a different network or restart your router
Most connection issues are related to router settings.
Is my data secure?
Absolutely.
All transfers happen only on your local WiFi network. Nothing is uploaded to servers.
No accounts are required, and we don’t collect, store, or sell any data.
Everything stays on your devices.

Sign in with your Google account, accept the invitation, and install the test version through Google Play.
What macOS and Android versions are supported?
• macOS: Requires macOS 12 Monterey or later
• Android: Requires Android 8.0 (Oreo) and above
Keeping both apps updated ensures the best experience.
Is LinkMyMac free?
Yes, LinkMyMac is currently free while it’s in early access.
During this phase, I want users to test features, report bugs, and help shape the final version.
Later on, once the app becomes stable and feature-complete, some advanced features may become paid to support ongoing development.
The basics will remain accessible, and early testers will keep full access.
No ads. No tracking. No subscriptions unless absolutely necessary.
Common Issues
Connection drops frequently
Check the WiFi signal strength on both devices.
If possible, move closer to your router or switch to a 5GHz network for more stable performance.
Some routers also have AP isolation enabled, which can interrupt local communication.
File transfer is slow
Transfer speed depends entirely on your local WiFi network.
For faster performance:
• Use a 5GHz network instead of 2.4GHz
• Reduce congestion by limiting other heavy network activity
• Make sure both devices are connected to the same access point
Screen mirroring lag
Mirroring requires a strong and stable network.
If you notice latency:
• Lower the mirroring quality in settings
• Ensure both devices are on 5GHz WiFi
• Reduce distance from the router
App won’t open
Try quitting the app completely and reopening it.
If the issue continues:
• Restart your Mac or Android device
• Reinstall the app from the App Store or Google Play
If the issue persists, please reach out via support@linkmymac.com.
