LinkMyMac runs on Android phones and tablets. LinkMyDroid is the companion app on Mac and iPad. LinkMyDrop handles local iPhone and Android transfers. If you need access, setup help, or troubleshooting, start here.
How to install and pair
- Install LinkMyMac on your Android phone or tablet from the Play Store.
- Download LinkMyDroid for Mac or iPad from the Apple App Store.
- Make sure both sides are updated to version 1.53 or newer before pairing.
- Open LinkMyDroid on Mac or iPad to show the QR code.
- Open LinkMyMac on Android and scan the QR code to pair.
- After pairing, devices reconnect automatically when both apps are open.
How to start an iPhone and Android drop
- Start a drop on one phone, then join from the other phone using QR, NFC where supported, or manual invite details.
- On iPhone, use LinkMyDrop directly or continue from the share sheet after selecting photos, files, text, or other supported content.
- On Android, approve incoming requests or choose documents and media to send back to iPhone.
- Keep both devices nearby and allow local network prompts when the OS asks.

Permissions to allow on first run
- Notification access for mirrored Android alerts and supported replies.
- File and photo access for transfers, media browsing, and sharing.
- Camera and microphone access when using your phone as a Mac webcam or mic.
- Local network access for Wi-Fi pairing and USB prompts for wired workflows.
- Battery unrestricted mode on Android for the most reliable background reconnect, clipboard sync, notifications, calls, and longer mirror or control sessions.
English, French, Spanish, German, and Dutch
LinkMyMac and LinkMyDroid can follow your system language on first launch when English, French, Spanish, German, or Dutch is available. You can also choose the language during onboarding or change it later in Settings.
Desktop and iPad downloads
Android phones, Android tablets, Mac, and iPad now have public store downloads linked from the site.
Download LinkMyDroid for Apple devices from the Apple App Store. If you hit compatibility issues on a specific Mac or iPad, contact support@linkmymac.com.
Quick answers before you install
Does it need a cloud account? No. Devices connect directly.
Does it work over USB? Yes. USB and Wi-Fi are both supported.
Can I use an Android tablet with Mac? Yes. Version 1.53 adds Android tablet-to-Mac support for the supported LinkMyMac workflows.
Can I use it on iPad? Yes, for clipboard, file transfer, photos, messages, notifications, contacts, and Wi-Fi Direct workflows.
What is LinkMyDrop? It is the local iPhone and Android transfer workflow for photos, videos, files, text, and profile details.
Where do transferred files go? Received files land in the destination device's download area.
